<p>Barry Anderson was skiing when he went over a cliff and hit a tree, shattering many bones and landing in surgery, where an oxygen deprivation problem caused his acquired brain injury. Even so, Barry retains intellect, a sense of humor and his family. He thanks those who saved him on the mountain as well as his Monarch High School students and friends.</p>
Eric Medema's TBI 25 years ago at age 21 left him in conflict and confusion, but did not destroy his intellect. Today he questions medicating toward zombie states, pursues better expression through poetry and continues seeking education about his own brain injury's impacts. He is frank about how the TBI impacted his social skills, offering his experiences to encourage others to understand the brain injuries of veterans coming home to major adjustments.
