Hangout
In Project: Brainiacs

Stephen Hahn and Rick Prokaski join Paula Rhoads June 2, 2012 to share video of Hangout activities in recent years as Stephen boosts several events soon to boost Hangout funds.

Peter Poppas' birthday happened to fall on Thanksgiving a few years ago as his family served up hot turkey, as they have for several years.

Dreamcatchers, a craft workshop with KenDara Peoples and Elena, happened last Tuesday, as did also a group exercise in improv acting to free up members' inhibitions and stimulate another celebrity career.

Rennie Hart, standup comic performing with PHAMALY, is a founding member of Hangout, and our camera caught one of his earliest performances, before he became a star.

We never got to the footage of Josh, a Hangout member who testified in the 2011 Legislative Session on Senate Bill 40, which passed into law to require coaches of youth sports to learn symptoms of brain injuries in an online 20-minute course. Jake Snakenburg, a high school football player, suffered a "second impact syndrome" (SIS) brain injury, or two brain injuries, and died a few years ago. The law is named for him and intends to reduce traumatic brain injuries and disabilities by preventing them.

But the upcoming Colorado BIG picnic event June 30 in Highlands Ranch and featuring a slate of musicians and reknown speakers, seeks to raise awareness and Josh Daniels is behind it.

Why support Hangout? Because it is a day program for people disabled by brain injuries to provide social activities in a setting designed for us, to combat isolation and depression with friendships and stimulating activities, speakers, outings, food and "business."
