BI Awareness Month
In Project: Brainiacs

Beth Kahmann joins Brainiacs today to help emphasize resources in this, March 2013, Brain Injury Awareness Month, which is chalk full of events for TBI survivors, their families, professionals and just about anybody who wants to join us. Welcome.

Beth and Paula attempt to overcome their lack of impulse control problems from frontal lobe injuries, which is sometimes a bit of pandemonium, but so?

Upcoming regional conferences of the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado include several detailed in this show, especially the "Brainstorm" conference in Lafayette, a real goodee.

Cheryl Catsoulis hosts the April regional conference in Greeley, but numerous regional conferences are also listed on the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado website at biacolorado.org.

Don't forget Brainiacs' archives of six years includes numerous BIAC conference speakers, top drawer brain injury specialists totally advancing the subject as we speak, at www.denveropenmedia.org/project/6254/shows, which you may watch on your own schedule, day or night, via the internet.

And Miranda, Paula's daughter, demonstrates gun control at Outdoor World's quarter arcade, while Paula worries her 12-shot rubber band gun might be outlawed soon.

So is it most important to stereotype and round up all the mentally disabled people to incarcerate them, as Colorado seems to do? Or should we consider that the mentally disabled are the folks often marginalized by society and taken advantage of? Who needs the most protection here? Us or them?

And is Paula's idea of converting the old CU hospital campus at Colorado Blvd and Eighth Street into a village of residences for disabled people a great way to recycle buildings to the highest possible use?

How does Beth put up with her anyway? Watch!
