In this show we’ll travel to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, specifically we’ll be touring the Cadet Chapel. After 5 years of planning, construction began in August 1959 that went on for another 4 years. The building has stood proudly since the summer of 1963, more than 50 years. A number of Internet references read that the Cadet Chapel is the #1 visited man-made structure in Colorado and I’m inclined to agree. The buildings aerodynamic shape pointing to the heavens looks very expected today but 50+ years ago it was hard design to sell.

This interview was recorded live during an actual tour inside the Cadet Chapel, you may need to focus your hearing to filter out the echo of the Docent’s voice. The buildings largest space is designed to seat up to 1,320 people at a time so when there are only 25 folks in a few pews her voice traveled and bounced around.
