In this show we’ll travel to the Penrose Heritage Museum on the property of the Broadmoor hotel in Colorado Springs. Founded in 1941 by Julie Penrose, the museum serves as a reflection of The Broadmoor’s dedication to preserving the history of early American transportation, and the Colorado Springs experience.
The Museum is not only home to the lifetime collection of Mr. Spencer and Mrs. Julie Penrose, but also for unique turn of the century technology including 31 horse-drawn carriages.
One of the new collections is the section of the museum dedicated to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb also known as “The Race to the Clouds”. This section follows the origins of the historic race that Spencer started in 1916 and its development into the race that is it today.
