State Representative Sara Gagliardi
In Project: Views from Denver

Brittany Robinson, soprano, finishes today's VIEWS FROM DENVER show with a selection before the Denver Lyric Opera Guild's Spring Luncheon presenting its Top Ten Winners. Brittany won Ninth Place, and her vocal control up there in the stratosphere is nothing to sneeze at.
The Denver Lyric Opera Guild presented its annual competition awards April 5 at Pinehurst Country Club.

State Rep. Sara Gagliardi, LPN of Arvada, discusses some Legislative efforts after the national healthcare reform is a bit more defined. She also tells what brought her personally more involved in contact with the Legislature a few years ago: the death of a child at the parents' hands. Gagliardi sits on the governor's commission evaluating how the state is to prevent child deaths from abuse, a complex subject pitting the state and counties against each other in some ways.

Gagliardi, who is vice chair of the House Health and Human Services Committee, also reviews several other bills and organized efforts of this legislative session. She reports that mandatory reporters of child abuse will receive a report back later, and that children in the fostercare system have organized to improve their own abilities to earn a driver's license and other services normally requiring a parent's signature.

As a nurse, Gagliardi also reviews advances to efforts to put medical records online.

Meanwhile, Host Nancy Ulrich is currently co-president of the Denver League of Women Voters, though this comfy chat with Nancy is independent.
