Neighbors Petition Mayor Hancock to Pause Platte-to-Park Hill/I-70 Project
In Project: Community Matters

Linked to the proposed expansion of I-70 through north Denver neighborhoods lowering the highway in one location to 20 feet below the water table, the Platte-to-Park Hill Drainage Sump would eliminate 50 acres of City Park Golf Course, and remove over 200 trees and the Golf Clubhouse, and extend an open drainage ditch for a mile adjacent to the Cole neighborhood, finally draining into Globeville Landing Park and the Platte River. Neighbors presented petitions with over 2,100 signatures to Mayor Hancock's aide at this 11-3-16 "Open House" requesting a pause in the project until proper studies by the Army Corps of Engineers can be completed, and hearings held with neighbors, in the face of imminent plans to break ground at Globeville Landing Park, in a Superfund Site.
