Rock Steady - Dearling

“Musically he felt like a long lost friend. We were always going to do a project together. We just needed time to know it.”

Native to Colorado, to the West, to mountain ranges and vast open spaces lends meaning and melodies completely unique to Dearling.  It's not about the style as much as it is about the sounds, and tones, and textures and feelings that the Western Wild inspires.  It's a place of vast weather changes, high highs and mellow lows.  It's a little rough and a little sweet, a little desert and a little rain.  In love with Fleetwood Mac, Chris Stapleton, Emmy Lou Harris and Travis Meadows, Dearling has a boldly ambient flare and a true mainstream hook.  It's supposed to be about love.  Real love.  Which has dimension and dynamic and range.  It's Colorado country music.  A little alternative, a little folk, a little rock, and very country with as much soul in the lyrics as the melodies.  Now about the players...

Dave Preston’s musical background is as varied and impressive as his skill with a guitar. He has played with: Justin Timberlake, Matt Morris, Charlie Sexton, Kelly Clarkson, The Freddy Jones Band, Emerson Hart, Keaton Simons, Tony Lucca, One Eskimo, Trace Bundy, Tab Benoit, and Gregory Alan Isakov to name a few.

Rachel James’ songs have been used by Tyler Ward, Jess Moskaluke and have had dozens of placements in television and advertising. Her songs and voice helped propel an earlier version of the band to win Ford’s Gimme the Gig II, beating out 2500 other bands from across the nation and winning her recording time with Don Was.

Noah Matthews has his roots in Denver music playing with dozens of bands in the Mile High City and recording on multiple records.  He tends to always be playing with the most up and coming bands out of the state who are getting loads of local radio love.  It's because he is that good.

Joel Matthews, yes folks, they are brothers, is a tech genius and a passionate beat maker.  He's also the funniest guy in the group.  Never allowed to have the microphone, he's probably the guy who should have his own podcast.  Oh, and he's a killer drummer.

In it’s earliest months Dearling has already opened for Roberta Flack, Lenka and Chris Isaak while playing Festivals and shows all over Colorado.
