On the first Friday of every month, Open Media Foundation holds a free community event, Open Music Sessions, at the Denver Open Media studios (near the Santa Fe Art Walk) that spotlights local performance groups, comedians, musical acts, and nonprofit organizations.

The September 2017 broadcast features a live musical performance by local group Los Mocochetes, stand up comedy from Walter Booth and Anthony Crawford, and a non-profit spotlight on KGNU Radio.
