LISTEN
Bernie's Colorado Journeys; listens in on remarks given by E. House jr. of the Ute Mt. Ute tribe-Colorado - show #52

For this show I think I found the “subject matter expert” on the Ute Indian nation. I surfed into the Denver area Tesoro Cultural Center website and saw that a talk was to be given on the history of the Ute Indian nation by a tribal member of the Nation, I had to go! Ernest House Jr. is the former executive director of the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs (CCIA). The Ute people are the oldest residents of Colorado, inhabiting the mountains and vast areas of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Eastern Nevada, Northern New Mexico and Arizona. According to tribal history handed down from generation to generation, the Ute people have lived here since the beginning of time. Supporting this presentation was the Tesoro Cultural Center of Morrison, CO (~30 min southwest of downtown Denver). The Center (Tesoro means “Treasure” in Spanish) was created to make available to the community the artistic treasures of our American past.

Now lets listen in on some Colorado history “gold nuggets” of the Ute nation by tribal member Ernest House Jr.
