Q. When are classes offered?
A. We are currently offering one class every week, either on Wed/Thurs evenings from 6pm to 9pm or on Saturdays from 10:30am to 5pm.
Q. How long are classes?
A. Currently, classes go for up to 6 hours. Wed/Thurs classes are up to 3 hours each day. Saturday classes are up to 6 hours, with a half hour break between each 3-hour section.
Q. What classes are currently being offered?
A. Currently, we offer, on a rotating basis: Intro to Field Production, Advanced Field Production, Intro to Studio Production, and Final Cut Pro Workshop.
Q. What is the cost of classes?
A. Classes are each $100 for members and $120 for non-members.
Q. How do I become a member?
A. Click here for information on membership.
Q. Where are classes held?
A. At the Deproduction Offices/Denver Open Media Community Access Station at 700 Kalamath Street, Denver CO, 80204.
Q. How do I get there by public transportation?
A. You can plan your trip at www.rtd-denver.com
Q. Do I need special prior knowledge to take classes?
A. For our Field Production and TV Studio classes, no prior knowledge of production is necessary. For our editing classes, basic knowledge of computer use is necessary.
Q. Do you teach classes in Spanish?
A. Currently, we only teach classes in English, but we do have Spanish-speaking staff who can assist Spanish-speaking students in class as long as the student knows some English. If you have a Spanish-speaking group of at least 5, we can teach a custom class for you entirely (or mostly) in Spanish. We also welcome teachers who would like to volunteer to teach for classes of Spanish-speaking students.
Q. What's the ratio of students to teachers in classes?
A. Currently, there is 1 instructor for every 3 students in the Final Cut Pro Workshop, and 1 instructor for every 5 students in other classes. With increased enrollment, however, this is likely to change, but we will continue to be committed to keeping that ratio as low as possible to ensure the best hands-on instruction.
Q. Can my guest sit in and observe the class?
A. A member's guest can "shadow" or observe a class only if they have paid the class fee. Everyone at the class needs to pay for the class. Members may invite guests during their studio shoots, or their field shoot to observe the activity, but not operate gear.
Q. What kind of internships does Deproduction/DOM offer?
A. We offer both college (or adult) internships and high school (or youth) internships. Adult interns can work specifically in production and post-production, station management, media education, web and IT, or non-profit management, with some opportunity to learn the inner workings of all the departments. Youth Interns are not assigned to a specific department, but instead work in all the departments and get a broader experience. Youth Interns work under the direct supervision of Adult Interns.
Q. Are internships paid or unpaid?
A. All Deproduction/DOM Internships are unpaid. We offer college or high school credit to eligible students interested in having it. Interns receive invaluable learning and skills, as well as cool perks like being able to use our production equipment, take our certification classes, and rent our studios for free while interning with us.

Q. Do I have to be a student to do an internship?
A. No. Our internship program is for students and non-students alike.

Q. Do I have to be a film major to do an internship?
A. No. Any major is fine. Choose the internship that best fits your interests, such as production, media education, web and IT, etc. Those interested in non-profit management and teaching are also encouraged to apply.
