I have taken a clip of a video which is 8 seconds long and I am compressing it on H264, 1020, 1080 multiple pass. In most multiple pass options it does TWO passes but on this setting it went on and on and on after 6 hours and it was still passing, I closed it! It this what happens, can anyone tell me how long it will take to compress at this setting? I guess I could have let it go 7/8 hours but would that be ENOUGH? Is there any way you can say stop at 10 passes or some numbers?

This is outside our scope, and isn't something I know how to help you with unless I were digging into it and looking at your project. One thing that makes it especially difficult is you don't mention what software you're using for compression. ;) In any case, its outside of our scope at DOM. We're here to provide any service you require to get media up on the DOM TV channels and website. You wouldn't need 1920X1080 H264 in our system. Given that, encoding depends on the original file CODEC, the output CODEC, the compression software and settings, and the stats of the computer you're using. IN any case, 6 hours for 8 seconds seems excessive to me.
