Denver, Colorado 80203
This is a reminder to please come and join us Wednesday, Sept. 16,
2009! Concerned citizens, journalists, policymakers and community
leaders will come together to discuss what policies we need — and what
actions we can take — to foster quality journalism in Denver and
beyond.
Colorado News Connection (CNC) staff will be available at this Free
Press event to discuss how we can work together to produce more
stories on the issues of concern to you, to say hello to supporting
members, and to reconnect with previous members. CNC produces
high-quality news stories on a wide range of social, community and
environmental issues that many newsrooms want, but no longer cover
themselves. In 2008, the Colorado News Connection produced 118 radio
news stories, which aired more than 5,200 times on 85 radio stations
in Colorado and border states and 461 nationwide.
Since the Rocky Mountain News closed, Denver has been at the center of
the debate over the future of news in America. However, Denver has
also emerged as a vibrant testing ground where journalists and
citizens are launching innovative new projects and debating what it
will take to save the news.
Come make your voice heard at this dynamic community forum and help
build a national campaign to save the news. We are at a critical
juncture, and policymakers need to hear your vision for the future of
news. With the changes facing our media comes a unique opportunity to
re-imagine the structures and policies needed for critical journalism
to thrive.
